Leading to the Apple iPod update me last week, Sony was about to steal the spotlight headlines around the Internet, how the company has announced that the Walkman was the iPod is sold in Japan in August. According to market research BCN Ranking Walkman is a 47.8 percent market share, perhaps 44 percent after the iPod now.

According to BCN pretty graphic, the last time that Sony used the room a player has exactly one year before. BCN has also published similar information, and then also it was just before the iPod update.

So if you’re waiting for iPod Walkman coming week, SmackDown, a data point has actually become more flexible in the next few weeks, Apple’s new lineup. Last week ending September 13 saw the Apple rose 37 per cent to 51 per cent, while Sony fell 47 percent compared to 32 percent.

Of course, as many have rightly pointed out, this entire debate deserves an asterisk humongous data BCN iPhone is not counted as players. But the number of press passes are intended to teach a valuable lesson in time to steal some of the mindshare and there is little hope to win market share.

I do not know any of the links BCN Sony, but this study seems to be very opportunistic thing, and the result was a ton of high quality media let the world know that Sony is still a great player.

In this case, it is likely that Sony really benefit from the committed Apple fan base. The most likely explanation for the temporary victory Sony has so much buzz swirling around the primary in September to update the iPod, most consumers do not just buy an iPod in August is hoped that the new techniques.

After two consecutive years, Sony is the lucky recipient of this unusual phenomenon Apple. The company seems very aware of the ongoing review of Qriocity, IFA in Berlin on iTunes challenger, such as Apple’s iPod event was to prepare for U.S.

Although the Cupertino Juggernaut marketing is really damn near stop, the Sony is a bit of ink fight (thanks BCN), so one-sided war, the player must give hope to aspiring competitors:

If possible, re-core Apple fanboys “before launch to fall asleep in your favor.

Bowers & Wilkins (B & W), a company which is located in a unique Zeppelin iPod dock, Nautilus and panorama several high-end speakers made a first pilot headsets on the market of its P5 Mobile Hi-Fi headphones. Slim design and good sound system, which offers a warm and attractive bass light-middle-class and high-end headphones, they are nice – and an impressive one – headset I’ve ever wrapped around my head.

P5 special features were developed and optimized neodymium magnet, Mylar film in a closed back design durable metal, the front panels and sealed headphones isolate sound, while retaining just enough ambient sound to a full music on the go. To ensure the comfort of P5 headphones feature adjustable headband and ear pads (padded memory foam is no less), shaped the New Zealand sheep skin is soft and elastic (which is certainly acceptable), but durable and sustainable (which we will take B & W’s words).

Headphones will be two cables. Standard 3.5mm jack cable and cable-Ra, to monitor the volume of exchanges, and control your iPod or iPhone into the microphone, so voice calls or commands. Ear cushions are magnetically attached so that they can quickly change the supplied cables to a modular jack connector.

Measures 180mm high x 150mm wide x 60mm deep (7.08 x 5.9 x 2.36 inches) when using headphones can be folded flat, P5, depth 35 mm (1.37 inches). They weigh 195g (6.88 ounces). They boast sa frequency 10Hz to 20 kHz, and is available for U.S. $ 299.95. This may seem steep headphones, but after listening to their children and the IFA 2010, I can only say that it is money well spent.

Researchers at the University of Michigan are developing laser systems to protect military helicopter infra-red missiles. Lasers can not destroy the missiles, but the jam sensor is rosy. This is not the first time that the laser systems used for this purpose, but create a system that is best suited to it that all the helicopters, which came before.

Unified Messaging System detects a missile and then shoot him in mid-infrared laser supercontinua. Although most lasers transmitting light with a wavelength, supercontinuums package of different wavelengths to focus on. Although such lasers typically emit visible light rays, because this is supercontinua medium infrared ray of light, but does not feel as heat. Earnings in the infrared spectrum of electromagnetic radiation mimics the signature of the helicopter’s engines, and makes the missile was the concept of a real helicopter. He says that it is an effective distance of 2.9 km (1.8 km).

One of the main advantages of the system according to its creators, the design is simple, and fiber-shelf components. “Laser-based infrared countermeasures, which are used today in some 84 air moving optical parts. I can not stand Shake, Rattle and Roll helicopters,” said Mohammed Islam, Professor Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. “We used good material, it is an old-fashioned dial-up to build a laser, which With no moving parts. ”

Islam says May soon be tested – his company UM spin-off, Omni Sciences, recently received U.S. $ 1 million to support the U. Army and the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) to build a second-generation prototype.

Microsoft has released the next phase of the development of Arc Mouse-Touch Arc. As its name suggests, the company has taken some of the upper surface of the tactile sensitivity and its purpose was to flatten touch of a finger, it has convenient transportation, but not in use. Its wireless USB receiver is also its size in remote areas so that, for all you need is a place when you’re on the road.

Since more and more people, my main computer is a laptop computer. This is perhaps a little easier to use than a full-size keyboard and large screen and comfortable. Of course, is a clue, I have to admit that only when used outdoors. If I sit on the table I use the mouse – why? Convenience and accuracy. Call me old fashioned, but I believe that a separate mouse easier to use and nicer than the built-in track. I think I can only tip for laptop users, that Microsoft was thinking when the new Arc Mouse Touch develops.

At first glance, could be forgiven for thinking that Microsoft is trying to put up with multi-touch Apple Mouse Magic. But when the entire upper surface of the many dedicated peripherals Apple sweeping gesture, touch-Arc Design is generally limited to drilling, which is a scroll wheel between the left and right buttons.

Tapes used for capacitive touch sensor technology to determine location and speed of operation of tactile user. Microsoft says that it will lead to “a precise, orderly transition no matter how quickly or slowly.” If a site and tracking of documents, to open on the screen before they touch the mere movement of the hand is said, so it stops abruptly.

Haptic vibration technology is incorporated into the Arc Touch users can simulate the experience of sometimes subtle, use the mouse wheel standard. In addition, the front surface of tape can be used for a site feature, the center region select and the rest is programmed to page down.

In addition, tactile interaction, touch is very different from the Arc Mouse Magic. Microsoft wireless mouse is designed to pave the “one finger” during the transfer. Although flat, the mouse goes off to keep it in a few AAA batteries, which are said to offer up to six months in use. 2.28 x 5.14 inches (58 x 130.6mm), the device is powered by a new curve, until it snaps into place and lit the lamp ignition.

In addition, Microsoft has contacted the surface of Arc, including the Blue Track technology, which helps to accurately assess most of the surfaces (with the exception of the transparent glass or mirrors). Arc is involved in small-touch-2.4 GHz USB transmitter-receiver, which is particularly suitable for the slot bottom of the mouse to make sure that you want to use the ring, you have everything you need in one place. Transceiver radius is 30 meters wide, “with virtually no interference.”

Researchers at the University of Liverpool, in collaboration with the University of Bristol, and John Innes Centre in Norfolk, were ranked in the entire genome of wheat. Now farmers are DNA information to help them select the most important characteristics of crops on the farm for breeding. The data is currently in a RAW format and progress further and read the notes, plus the installation of the chromosomes of the genetic information necessary for it to be fully implemented. The use of advanced platforms for genome sequencing, but the task is not as difficult as it seems. While sequencing the human genome took 15 years to complete, the genome of wheat in one year. This is due in no small measure to the next generation of U Bristol genome DNA analyzer that can read a hundred times faster than systems that were used to sequence the human genome.

“Wheat genome is five times larger than the human genome and represents a huge challenge for researchers,” said U of Bristol Professor Keith Edwards. “The genome sequences are an important tool for researchers and farmers, since the data publicly available, we will ensure that publicly funded research in a broader sense.”

The reference rate used in the study of Chinese spring wheat. Scientists hope that understanding the genetic differences between varieties with different desired properties, can generate new types of wheat produce better prepared to withstand drought and salinity, and gives better performance. Maybe you can even take the coveted eternal wheat.

“The expectation is that in the next 40 years world food production must increase by 50 percent,” said Dr. Anthony Hall U Liverpool. “The development costs of new, low input, high yield varieties of wheat, it is important to achieve these goals.”

The project is funded by the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council.

The research team from North Carolina State University has an incredibly small micro-needles for use in treating disease by inserting dyes calls nanoscale quantum dots on the skin. This new procedure will be the ability of physicians to diagnose and treat many diseases, including skin cancer.

Micro-needles are needles in a very small dimension such as length, width, smaller than a mil.límetre (0.04 inches). Dr. Roger Narayan, professor and senior researcher in northern Carloni State University, explains: “The motivation for the study was to determine whether microagulles could use quantum dots to be delivered to the skin. Microagulles We could use the empty plastic production focus of laser rapid prototyping and found a solution through quantum dots are microagulles.

Narayan said that the results were remarkable because the new technology will allow doctors to fix the quantum dots (in solution) in the deeper layers of the skin, which shows the potential treatment of serious diseases such as melanoma. The quantum dots are nano-crystals with unique properties in terms of light and a great help in diagnosis.

The research team carried out tests on pig skin, which resembles human skin. Miscroneedles plastic solution and water based solution of many scientific points inserted into the pig skin and the results recorded by microscopy multifotó. By tracking the evolution of the computer can analyze the effectiveness of micro-needles in the delivery of quantum dots.

The study is based solution that has created the laser to produce rapid prototypes of micro-needles of different lengths and shapes. This allows doctors microagulles customized for specific treatment of certain conditions. Creation of micro-needles with two-photon polymerization, the approach pioneered in North Carolina and Laser Zentrum Hannover State for use in medical applications, allowing researchers to develop tailored microagulles. “We use the potential of this technology for small stresses, in addition, medical applications,” says Narayan.

The document describing the study, “Multi-photon microscope for transdermal administration of quantum dots via two-photon polymerization of polymer produced microagulles,” will be published in the September edition of Faraday discussions.

People often need to be rescued at sea because of storms – just the kind of conditions is not safe to fly. But fully manned helicopters and fixed wing aircraft are distributed regularly as a time to conduct Maritime Salvage, dangerous and expensive aircraft and crew. Soon, however, that a new type of remote unmanned aircraft that could do the job. Not only will the team take into account the damage to the road, but it shows that the prototype could overcome conventional aircraft flying in bad weather, thanks to technology that changes shape.

Maritime Salvage UAV (unmanned) is being developed in the framework of the EUREKA E! 3931 Åsarp Eureka is a European intergovernmental network for market oriented research and promote development.

prototype airplane for takeoff and landing on land or in water, fly up to 4.5 hours, and a dead weight of 40 kg. (88 lbs.). It also has on-board cameras that transmit live a separate field command center, where the human operator control Mans. Is unlikely to choose people from the sea, but can provide their location and potential reduction in supply.

A small airplane can withstand extreme conditions, with three tabs aeroservoelastic adjustment in the rear of the wings and tail. When the plane was hit by gusts of wind, the big cards are fast changes in the way of compensating the effect of wind. This technology is not unlike the flaps of the edge switch so the turbines are being built to protect the destructive effects. In combination with several other features such as special aerodynamic profile is optimized for a lift at low speeds, so the aircraft is very stable.

The project is coordinated by Public Health Engineering in Scotland, with chips made by Computational Fluid Dynamics Centre in Israel. The prototype is currently in final testing in Cyprus.

Back in those happy days with 80 brothers and my sisters and I were lucky to get a VIC-20 computer for Christmas. It was so fun to spend hours whiling classics like Missile Command and United States vein, I’ve always been mad with jealousy of friends who were under the Commodore 64 in the fingers. Now 20 years later, I finally could satisfy their jealousy and the good news is that the C64 “may soon return to market – and with some very impressive features.

Commodore United States has just announced that it has reached licensing makes it possible to produce a wide range of brand new Commodore “All In One (AIO) PC keyboard and intends to begin selling a copy of the original chassis C64 beige. Note some memories boirosos eyes of many of our readers.

What consumers think the original specification C64-8 is a bit today and found no chance to load the game from tape drive positive update obsolete Commodore PC64 includes the Intel Atom 525 Ion2 NVIDIA graphics, 4GB DDR3 RAM, 1 TB Hard Drive, HDMI, DVD / CD Optical (Blu-ray optional), dual-link DVI, six USB ports, integrated 802.11n WiFi, Bluetooth and a 6-in-1 media card reader.

The company will launch a Pro with 2.66GHz Intel Core i7, NVIDIA GeForce GT 330 with 512 MB, 2 TB HDD, 4 GB DDR3 SDRAM and Blu Ray disc. But PC64 Pro includes the original box from C64.

The PC64 and PC64 Pro will join the current line of U.S. Commodore, including friends (“O” no “to” at the end) – a basic entry level PC system with a single chip configuration AIO – Invictus – even a computer keyboard but with an integrated LCD screen – and the recently launched Phoenix – management company model works with an Intel Core 2 Duo or Quad Core. Pictures of them in the gallery.

2000 years before Jesus could walk on water, but it may soon go into the food. In an effort to become more sustainable, researchers have discovered a new alternative “green” oil on wood glue for common use. Representatives from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Forest Products Laboratory in Wisconsin, speaking at the 2:40 s national meeting this week in American Chemical Society, spoke about the development of soy-based glue. The substance is obtained from foods such as soy milk and tofu, and could mean a new generation of soil environment, furniture, cabinets and other wood products.

The new stickers with soy flour additives normally used in paper production and water-resistant. The glue is as effective as oil-based adhesives, but without money harmful formaldehyde (a potential carcinogen) exempts traditional plywood, particle and other composite products. Formaldehyde fumes can cause short-term symptoms such as tearing and burning eyes, nose and throat and skin irritations. Dr. Charles Frihart who participated in the survey, said such problems, along with rising gasoline prices and a strong movement towards sustainability is to encourage producers to use tree Another view of soybeans. Many wood products are now made of wood, but in reality often are compounds consisting of pieces of wood glued together with glue oil.

“Adhesive proteins allowed the development of composite wood products such as plywood in the 20th century,” said Frihart. “The adhesive proteins petrochemical replaced in most applications based on cost efficiency, production efficiency and better resistance. But there are several technologies and environmental factors leading to activation of proteins, especially soy flour glue as an important national plywood and wood flooring.

A number of soy-based adhesive has been tested by scientists, industrial and government researchers in the U.S.. The exposed adhesive on samples of wood found in extreme conditions, including exposure to water and high heat. At the end of the experiment, consisting soy-based glue on soybean meal and other Modifiers produced the highest score. The goal Frihart and a team of researchers are now formulating new adhesives, soy is still stronger than the existing ones.

Tails of soybeans currently represents less than five percent of the market for wood glue. We hope that this research will help to increase awareness and use of lime green in the world. U.S. Forest Service is developing in cooperation with the label Ashland Hercules and Heartland Resource Technologies.
